The Choice Board of the DAILY TRUST African of the 12 months Award has introduced that there isn’t a winner of the award for the yr 2022. The African of the 12 months Award was launched by DAILY TRUST in fulfilment of the newspaper’s dedication to African unity and sustainable improvement throughout the continent. With this annual award, the newspaper hopes to entrench the tradition of selflessness amongst Africans with the goal of making a pool of role-models for others to emulate.
The maiden award was introduced to a Congolese gynaecologist, Dr. Denis Mukwege, in recognition of his exemplary humanitarian supply of free reconstructive surgical procedure to victims of rape within the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Dr Mukwege went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018, ten years after DAILY TRUST had recognised his outstanding humanitarian efforts.
