Nigerian film producer and actress Adanma Luke has apologized to Nigerians for the tragic boat accident that led to the deaths of actor John Odonwodo, popularly generally known as Junior Pope, and 4 different crew members on their method to her movie set in April 2024.
In a video posted on her Instagram on Monday, Luke, who produced the film The Different Aspect of Life, shared how deeply sorry she is and the way the incident has left her fighting melancholy.
“I’m simply right here to say that I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Nigerians. I’m sorry I took away your family members, in line with what persons are saying. I’m very unhappy, and although I attempt to be robust, I don’t see myself as robust. I’m devastated that this occurred on my set, and I’m heartbroken that they got here to work for me at the moment. I’m not God; this was destined to occur, however why me?”
In her emotional message, she requested for forgiveness, emphasizing that the accident was not intentional. “All of us liked JP, and all of us liked the others who misplaced their lives—my crew members.
Luke clarified that the boat was only for transportation, not a part of the film shoot, saying, “We weren’t even taking pictures on the water; it was a way of transportation.” She added that she had requested for a greater location to shoot the film and was informed by her crew that it was secure.
“It’s not like I did this on function, and I’m taking all of the blame. Please, Nigerians, I’m sorry. I’m steadily dropping my life and sinking into melancholy. Please, forgive me,” she pleaded.
