Legendary Ghanaian creator and playwright, Ama Ata Aidoo, has died aged 81, her household has confirmed.

Aidoo died within the early hours of immediately, Wednesday, Could thirty first 2023 after a brief sickness.

Her household revealed in a press release; “With deep sorrow however within the hope of the resurrection, informs most of the people that our beloved relative and author handed away within the early hours of this morning Wednesday, Could 31, 2023, after a brief sickness.”

The household head, Kwamena Essandoh Aidoo added, “Funeral preparations can be introduced sooner or later.”

The deceased is broadly considered one of the crucial outstanding African writers of the twentieth and twenty first centuries.

Ama Ata Aidoo attended Wesley Ladies’ Senior Excessive Faculty in Cape Coast from 1961 to 1964.
