Worshipper is stabbed outside church on Easter Sunday after attending service

A worshipper was stabbed exterior a church the place he had attended an Easter Sunday service.

Officers have been referred to as to St Stephen’s Church in Sneinton, Nottinghamshire at 10.50 am following reviews of the assault.

Churchgoers had been adopted exterior by the 20-year-old suspect, who had reportedly attended companies there two or thrice earlier than. The alleged attacker was taken into custody by officers from Nottinghamshire Police whereas the sufferer was rushed to hospital.

The sufferer underwent surgical procedure and his accidents will not be believed to be life-threatening.

Curate at St Stephen’s Church, Lynda Blakeley, stated the ‘ideas and prayers’ of the group have been with the sufferer.

Police stated the assault is just not believed to be a hate crime and the suspect stays in custody.

DCI Mark Dickson, of Nottinghamshire Police, stated: ‘Officers have been referred to as to Dale Road, Sneinton on April 9 following reviews of a severe assault.

‘Police arrested a 20-year-old man shortly after the incident on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily hurt with intent and he stays in custody.

‘An investigation has since been launched to ascertain what occurred and, regardless of the massive police presence within the space, I might wish to reassure the general public that there is no such thing as a wider risk to the group.’
