Reacting to the police station that was burnt, Oyeyemi stated, “That could be a false impression, a cell man serving in Lagos was the one which killed the soldier. I don’t know why the troopers will go and begin burning Ogijo Police Station when the problem occurred in Odogunyan, which is in Lagos.
“We don’t have any cell base in Ogijo, so how can the cell policeman be from Ogijo?” he questioned.
In the meantime, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday evening took to Twitter to say that the soldier’s killing happened at Ogijo and never Odogunyan.
He stated, “There are tales making the rounds that riots have damaged out in Odonguyan, Ikorodu. We want to make clear that the unrest is at Ogijo, Ogun State, although very near Ikorodu, Lagos. Our officers are at alert & wouldn’t enable any breakdown of legislation and order inside Lagos State.”
