ASUU: 10 lecturers lifeless since strike started — UNICAL

The Educational Employees Union of Universities, College of Calabar Department, has revealed that ten of its educational workers members had died for the reason that ASUU strike started on February 14, 2022.

This was disclosed by ASUU UNICAL Department Chairman, Dr John Edor, on Thursday, whereas talking with our correspondent in Calabar.

Though, Edor didn’t disclose the circumstances surrounding the loss of life of the lecturers, some had blamed lack of funds to deal with medical circumstances, as the reason for their loss of life.

Dr. Edor, nevertheless, disclosed the names of the lecturers and their programs taught.

The names listed are; Prof. E. O. Udosen, Biochemistry; Dr. Mrs. Iquo Takon, Microbiology; Prof. G. U. Ntamu, Spiritual and Cultural Research; Prof. Mrs. Judith Otu, Sociology; Prof. Victor Ibianwu, Physics, Prof. Offiong Abia, Historical past and Worldwide Research; Prof. Catherine Agbor, Arts Schooling; Dr. Augustine Bassey, Sociology; Dr. Ita Esuabana, Arithmetic and Dr. Chinyere Okam, Theatre and Media Research.

ASUU had commenced the strike to press house their demand for higher welfare, amongst others and the federal authorities had withheld the salaries of the lecturers for the seven month interval.

Requested to touch upon the tragedy, Edor stated, “I gained’t make additional feedback.”
