Zimbabwe: Job Sikhala’s Continued Detention Sparks Protest

Residents of Chitungwiza Friday staged a flash demonstration demanding the discharge of incarcerated Residents Coalition for Change (CCC) lawmaker Job Sikhala.

The demonstration was held about 300 metres from Chitungwiza Central Police Station, the place tens gathered, blocking roads, chanting and holding placards.

Sikhala was arrested three months in the past along with legislator, Godfrey Sithole, and a dozen different occasion activists for allegedly inciting the violence which rocked slain CCC activist, Moreblessing Ali’s funeral.

Sikhala, who represents the Zengeza West constituency in Parliament, can also be Ali’s household lawyer and has been on the forefront demanding justice on the homicide.

Talking throughout the demonstration, one protestor stated President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the judiciary should cease weaponising the regulation for political expediency.

“As we speak marks the start and finish of a tyrannical, satanic, dictatorial regime by Emmerson Mnangagwa.

“Our message could be very clear since day one, we now wish to take this message to the doorstep of Chitungwiza Justice of the Peace Courts as a result of our battle will not be solely with this oppressive regime however it should be despatched once more to the judiciary system,” he stated.

Ali went lacking on Could 24 after she was allegedly attacked and kidnapped by a Zanu PF member Pius Jamba, who afterward killed her.
