Tinashe Nengomasha Joins Caps United as Team Manager for 2026 Season

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Tinashe Nengomasha has secured another major step in his growing football-management career.

The announcement was made on Friday in Harare as the Green Machine introduced a revamped technical department aimed at revitalising the club after a disappointing 2025 campaign.

Caps United Unveil New Technical Team

According to FARPost, club president Farai Jere confirmed the restructuring, revealing that Caps United had finalised its technical team, retained players and incoming signings as part of an ambitious rebuild.

We’re excited to announce the technical team, followed by our retained players and new signings for Caps United,” said Jere.

Head coach Takesure Chiragwi will lead the charge once again, this time with Zambian tactician Ian Bakala as his assistant. Chiragwi previously worked alongside Nengomasha at Ngezi Platinum, where the former midfielder served as team manager for two seasons.

“The General” Brings Experience and Leadership

Nengomasha will step into a crucial leadership role as team manager.

His decorated career at Kaizer Chiefs, which includes winning both the PSL Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards in 2004, remains one of the most influential legacies for Zimbabwean players in South Africa.

In preparation for deeper involvement in football administration, Nengomasha recently enrolled in a management programme under the CIES International University Network in partnership with FIFA, further sharpening his leadership and organisational skills.

Caps United Eye Stronger Comeback in 2026

Caps United are targeting a major turnaround after finishing ninth in the 2025 season with 43 points—26 behind champions Scotland FC.

With a strengthened bench and the addition of Nengomasha, the club hopes the new structure will steer them back into league contention.
