Nigerian midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is expected to return to action for Pisa next Sunday, following a three-week injury layoff, Soccernet.ng reports.
Akinsanmiro has been out of action since November 7, when he suffered a shoulder injury during Pisa’s Serie A game against Cremonese at Arena Garibaldi.
The 21-year-old midfielder started for the Torri in that game, but he was forced off in the 68th minute after sustaining the injury.
At the time he suffered the injury, there was speculation that he was being considered for a Super Eagles invitation for the CAF World Cup playoffs. The injury, however, ruled him out of contention.
Akinsanmiro has also missed Pisa’s last two Serie A games. New reports, however, suggest that his return is close.

Ebenezer Akinsanmiro’s expected return to action on December 8 is a big boost for Pisa. The Nigerian midfielder, who is on loan from Inter Milan, has an impressive work rate. He is also notably physical and technically gifted.
His performances have even earned him praises from his coach, Alberto Gilardino.
Can He Make The Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 Squad?
As stated earlier, there was speculation that he was under consideration for a place in the Super Eagles squad for the last international break, but injury kept him out.
However, he is fit and almost ready to go, so the Super Eagles scouts will definitely have their eyes on him.
In fact, the team’s handlers should have already submitted a 55-man provisional list for the competition, and it is expected that Akinsanmiro will be included on the list.
With the 2025 AFCON billed to kick off on December 18, all the teams are expected to confirm their final squads by December 11.
This means that Akinsanmiro has just one game to prove to coach Eric Chelle that he deserves a place on the team.
Given the paucity of talented and hungry midfielders in the Super Eagles fold, Akinsanmiro should definitely be someone that they are looking at—if competence is truly the yardstick.
Although he has not played a lot of football in the past month, his decent start to the campaign should count for something.
He will be hoping that he gets his maiden Super Eagles call-up soon. Even if he doesn’t play, he is one of the players who are expected to grow and become regulars in the coming years.
