A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has stated that anyone who underrates the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, will surely pay for it, irrespective of one’s state of anger.

Naija News reports that Sowunmi made the statement in response to the PDP’s recent internal political wranglings, which have resulted in two factions.

One faction loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has Abdulrahman Mohammed as chairman, while the other has Umar Damagum as its chairman.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme on Friday, Sowunmi said that the party is working to make itself unelectable during the 2027 general elections.

According to Sowunmi, many political elites and PDP members failed to take the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, led by Atiku, seriously, despite his warnings about the party.

He said, “It’s still a very big task to be able to get us ready for significant chance for success in the next election.

“We mostly being underdone by the African Democratic Congress, ADC, even though when they started, we said who are they? But I warned. I said the second heart attack of PDP is what Atiku Abubakar is capable of doing. No matter how angry you get, if you underate him, you will pay for it.

“If you look at the ADC and the PDP, you will see that PDP is really working to make itself unelectable.”
