According to Caught Offside, Chelsea have moved ahead of the competition in the race to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
The Blues have apparently placed the 23-year-old at the top of their wish list when it comes to squad planning for 2026, aiming to reinforce their attacking midfield section. At Stamford Bridge, Rogers is seen as a player perfectly capable of answering to the physical demands of the Premier League, while boasting enough technical quality to improve the team on the European stage as well, and still with time and space for improvement.
The race is, however, far from over. Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool are both believed to be monitoring the situation closely, and Manchester City, who were interested prior to acquiring Rayan Cherki, could return to the fray too.
As for Aston Villa, they have no intention to sell Rogers at all at this point and have made that clear to all parties, but reports suggest an offer of around £80 million could be enough to tempt them into reconsidering their stance.
