Former UEFA Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt are weighing up a move for Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika, Soccernet.ng reports.
Onyedika joined Belgian giants Club Brugge from Danish side FC Midtjylland in 2022, and he has improved significantly.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has worked under different managers at the club, but he has maintained his position as a bang-on starter.
Onyedika is very good on the ball, knows how to operate in tight spaces, and a very good tackler. He also has an incredible work rate.
Due to his impressive displays at Club Brugge, the FC Ebedei product has been linked with some top clubs abroad like West Ham and Monaco, but nothing concrete has emerged yet.
However, it appears that Germany might just be his next destination. Last summer, Onyedika was linked with a transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt in the final days of the transfer window, but they did not push for the deal.
Now, according to fresh reports from transfer expert Florian Plettenberg, the 1980 and 2021 Europa League champions might return for Onyedika soon.
This is as they expect to lose their star midfielder Hugo Larsson, who has attracted interest from other clubs. And they believe Onyedika is the best option.
Can Eintracht Frankfurt Get Raphael Onyedika?
Although Raphael Onyedika is an integral part of the setup at Club Brugge, the club would be willing to sell, as they are a selling club.
The signed him for nearly €10 million, and his value has risen to €20 million. So for sure, they will make a 100% gain on him at the very least.
The Super Eagles star has only two years left on his contract, so the Belgian club know that they have to sell him within the next two transfer windows or risk losing him for free.
Eintracht Frankfurt made over €90 million from the sale of Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool last summer, so they should have enough money to get Onyedika.
