The Niger State Police Command has begun enforcing tinted glass permits, warning motorists without valid permits of sanctions.
Officers were stationed at key points in Minna to check vehicles and ensure compliance.
Commissioner of Police, CP Shawulu Ebenezer Elleman, said the exercise is not to punish motorists but to strengthen security, as criminals often hide behind tinted windows.
He warned that vehicles without valid permits would be impounded and prosecuted under the law.
Elleman urged drivers to obtain their permits promptly, stressing that ignorance will not be an excuse.
He praised motorists for their cooperation and assured residents that the police remain committed to law and order.
A state lawmaker, Hon. Abu Adamu Gomna, was also stopped during the checks.
He commended the commissioner’s fairness, saying the exercise boosts public confidence in the police.
