Nigerian comedian and reality TV star Aderombi Adedayo Martin, popularly known as Deeone, has officially begun his 40-hour stand-up comedy marathon in Lagos in a bid to set a new Guinness World Record.
The comedy challenge kicked off in the early hours of Thursday, October 2, 2025, at exactly 12 am. The event is taking place at Opebi, Ikeja, with a visible timer running in the background to monitor the performance.Â
Videos from the session have already appeared on social media, showing Deeone performing to a live audience while officials keep close watch on the attempt.
Deeone had earlier revealed in September that his application for the record attempt was approved by Guinness World Records. If successful, he will become one of the few comedians globally to achieve such a rare milestone.Â
The marathon is expected to run non-stop until Saturday, October 4, 2025. The attempt has sparked mixed reactions online.Â
While many fans have praised his courage and flooded his comment section with words of encouragement, others have mocked the idea, questioning whether he can endure 40 straight hours of comedy.
This bold move comes after Deeone openly declared that he wanted to push his career beyond the regular stage and television shows by doing something extraordinary. Breaking the world record for the longest stand-up comedy performance, he said, would not just be a personal victory but also a win for Nigerian comedy.
