Werder Bremen coach Steffen Horst has admitted that he has been surprised by Victor Boniface’s performance levels since joining the club on transfer deadline day, Soccernet.ng reports.

Boniface endured a tough summer due to several speculations around his future. He was close to joining AC Milan from Bayer Leverkusen, but the transfer fell through, as they club was not satisfied with his injury record.

He eventually linked up with Werder Bremen on transfer deadline day, in a season-long loan transfer.

The Super Eagles star has been working with his new teammates before the start of the international break, and he could make his debut for the club when they take on Borussia Monchengladbach at Borussia-Park on Sunday.

Ahead of the game, Bremen coach, Horst, has praised Boniface for the quality Boniface has shown in training and how he has quickly built a strong relationship with his new teammates.

“He’s well-received here, I like him, he’s very likeable. It makes no difference to me, and he presents himself no differently than the players who have slightly lower market value than him,” Horst said, per Deich Stube.

“Someone who can play football like that will certainly raise the level. I have great hope that this will become apparent and that we have signed a great player.”

“You see it again and again when there are moves and movements that I’m not familiar with. They are exceptionally good.”

Victor Boniface Set For First Start At Werder Bremen

Judging by Steffen Horst’s comments, Victor Boniface will likely start for Werder Bremen against Borussia Dortmund.

He has to hit the ground running and start scoring goals aplenty so he can move to a bigger club at the end of the campaign.

The Super Eagles star is no stranger to the Bundesliga, as he has 22 goals and 11 assists in 42 games. So, scoring goals for Werder Bremen should not be a problem.
