President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sparked reactions after sharing what he believes late President Muhammadu Buhari truly left behind for Nigeria.
Speaking on Tuesday, September 2, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu hosted a delegation of political leaders from Katsina State, Buhari’s home state.
The team was led by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, who came to meet the president following fresh bandit attacks that claimed several lives in the state.
During the meeting, Tinubu said Buhari did not just leave a legacy but a solid political structure. He described the late former president as a man who built something lasting in the nation’s politics.
Tinubu also admitted he missed Buhari and prayed for Allah to grant him Aljanat Firdaus.
The visit came in the middle of rising insecurity in Katsina. In August, gunmen stormed a mosque in Unguwan Mantau village, killing at least 17 worshippers, according to police reports. Locals claimed the casualties were even higher.
The attack was said to be a reprisal after villagers earlier confronted and killed some bandits.
Tinubu, while addressing the Katsina leaders, said he felt at home with them, calling Buhari not just a predecessor but family.
His statement that Buhari “left a political structure behind” has drawn mixed reactions from Nigerians online, with some praising the comment and others questioning what that structure means for the country’s current struggles.
