Super Eagles striker Simy Nwankwo is close to completing a move to Saudi Arabian Division 1 club Al Orubah, Soccernet.ng reports.

Nwankwo just became a free agent this summer, following the expiration of his contract at Salernitana.

He joined the club in 2022 and went on multiple loan transfers to Parma and Benevento, but he remained their since 2023 until his contract ended.

Following the expiration of his contract at the end of last season, Nwakwo has attracted a lot of interest from clubs abroad.

In a recent report by Soccernet.ng, Nwankwo was linked to Turkish Lig 1. club Sakaryaspor. He was also linked to Romanian giants CFR Cluj.

However, new reports from Italian transfer expert Matteo Moretto suggest that the 33-year-old striker is close to joining Saudi Arabian Division 1 club Al Orubah, with the deal only subject to medicals.

If the deal is eventually completed, Nwakwo will join fellow Super Eagles star William Troost-Ekong.

The last time Simy Nwankwo played for the Super Eagles of Nigeria was at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, in a game against Argentina.

Nwakwo came on as a late substitute when Nigeria was desperate for a goal. But he could not help the team, as it ended 2-1.

He has four caps in total for the Super Eagles, and it is highly unlikely that it will increase before he retires.
