Piero Hincapie is on the verge of joining Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen on the final day of the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports. The Ecuador international central defender has completed a medical and has agreed on personal terms with the Premier League club.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal will sign Hincapie on a loan deal from Bundesliga club Bayern with an option to make it permanent for £45 million next summer. The 23-year-old’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium will allow Jakob Kiwior to formally complete his transfer to FC Porto before the summer transfer window closes on Monday evening.

Arsenal have made a strong start to the new Premier League season and are third in the standings with six points from three matches, just three points behind leaders Liverpool and a point behind second-placed Chelsea.
