A young Cameroonian footballer has become an internet sensation in Turkey after his uncanny resemblance to Nigeria and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen caught the public eye, Soccernet.ng reports.
Youssouf Adamou has lived in Turkey for the past eight years and is currently based in Eskişehir, where he studies and plays for an amateur club.
But it is not just his football that is drawing attention. His striking likeness to Victor Osimhen, right down to the distinctive hairstyle, blonde dye, and trademark protective mask, has made him a talking point across the country.
Clips of Adamou surfaced online in recent dyas, showing him in a Galatasaray shirt, imitating Osimhen’s iconic look. His videos quickly went viral, creating a buzz among fans who are stunned by the similarity.
The resemblance has opened doors for Adamou, who has since been invited for interviews with Turkish media outlets.
What Amadou said about Victor Osimhen
Despite the excitement, Adamou insists that his image is not an attempt to copy Osimhen but rather a personal style he had long before.
“I’m not dying my hair blonde because of Osimhen. I used to dye it that way, but my mother didn’t approve. Then I decided to let it be my style. When Osimhen came along, they started calling my hair ‘Osimhen’s hair.’ I said, ‘No, this is my hairstyle,’” he explained.

He also revealed how friends gifted him Osimhen’s mask, which he now occasionally wears in public.
“When I got attention, I had to wear a hat on the tram,” he said with a laugh.
Adamou is determined to carve out his own path in football. Currently restricted to the amateur leagues due to rules limiting foreign players in Turkey’s lower divisions, he hopes to use the growing publicity as a springboard.
“I’m just at the beginning of my career, still playing in the amateur leagues. Foreign players can’t play in the Super Amateur, BAL, 3rd League, or 2nd League. So, I’m doing something in the meantime. I’m the Osimhen of the midfield,” he declared.

The Cameroonian sees himself as more of a playmaker than a goal scorer but remains confident about a professional breakthrough.
“They compare me a lot to Osimhen. I think Osimhen and I are very similar. Our styles are a bit similar; he plays like me, but he’s more of a goalscorer. I’m also good at building up from the back. As they say, ‘Çanakkale is impassable,’ so I use that mentality to secure the goal to prevent goals,” he added.
Adamou’s ultimate dream is to share a pitch with the Nigerian superstar.
“I would love to meet him side by side in the future. We will definitely run into each other, I believe that. Whether it’s in Istanbul or Eskişehir, we will run into each other somehow. I’m from Cameroon, he’s from Nigeria. In fact, we can say we’re neighbours,” he said.
Victor Osimhen remains the most talked-about footballer in Turkey following his record-breaking transfer to Galatasaray this summer.
