Super Falcons of Nigeria recently defeated Morocco to win their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, Soccernet.ng reports.
Following this, they have officially broken a world record to become the most successful women’s national team in continental football history.
The historic victory came just over a week ago in Rabat, Morocco, where the Super Falcons defeated host nation Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final, clinching their 10th continental crown and surpassing football powerhouses like the USA, China, Germany, and Brazil in terms of continental titles won.

Nicknamed “Mission X”, the Falcons’ 2025 campaign was built around the goal of securing their 10th African crown—and they did it in unforgettable fashion.
Following an impressive group stage and an outstanding knockout round, including the memorable final against Morocco, Justin Madugu’s women made their 10th continental title memorable.
Goals from Folashade Ijamilusi, Esther Okoronkwo, and Jennifer Echegini sealed the comeback victory, silencing a raucous Moroccan crowd.
National Recognition For The WAFCON Winners
Following the win, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted the team at Aso Rock, where each player received National Honours (OON), ₦75 million cash reward, and a three-bedroom house.
This became the most generous reward ever given to a women’s team in Nigeria’s history.
