Starting with the hosts, while Novorizontino might have come flying out of the traps when opening up the 2025 campaign, Umberto Louzer’s side are seeking some recent stability. Putting in a nightmare performance last time out as they slumped to a 4-0 drumming at the hands of CRB, they have now won just a pair of their previous six Serie B appearances – a run that stems back to June 23rd. However, opening this weekend’s fixtures sat in bronze medal position and pencilled in as a genuine promotion contender this season, the Sao Paulo-based outfit will certainly be excited to make a return to home soil here. Despite their extended issues on the road, Novorizontino have gained a fearsome reputation for their dominance at the Estadio Doutor Jorge Ismael de Biasi. Last seen in front of their own supporters landing a gritty 1-0 win against Goias, it should be highlighted that Saturday’s hosts have registered 16 points from their previous six Serie B showdowns in Sao Paulo.
As for the visitors, putting in what was a sensational performance earlier in the week as they stormed their way to a 5-0 romp against home against Botafogo, Avai will be desperate to use that display as a platform to build on. Getting Saturday’s trip to Sao Paulo underway sat within touching distance of the promotion spots, Jair Ventura’s men find themselves in a very similar position to Novorizontino. Despite drawing a line under their four-match winless rut, the Lions have struggled to find any real fluidity over recent times. Failing to register consecutive Serie B wins since the end of April, Avai have also shown some major issues away from the Ressacada. Including a woeful 4-0 drumming at the hands of Athletic Club last month, Saturday’s guests have mustered just a sole win from their previous seven showdowns outside of Santa Catarina – a run that stems all the way back to April 21st.
