Air Peace Reveals Date to Commence Abuja–London Flights

Air Peace says it will begin direct flights from Abuja airport to Heathrow and Gatwick airports in London, United Kingdom (UK), on October 26.

In a statement on its Facebook page on July 16, Air Peace said the commencement of the flights will give Nigerians more options.

“The Journey just got bigger and even better. We’re not just flying to London, we’re giving you more of London,” the statement reads.

“Air Peace is now connecting Abuja to both Heathrow and Gatwick, expanding your options, your comfort, and your access to world-class travel.”

On April 25, Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace development, said he approved the commencement of Air Peace’s flight services from Abuja to London on April 24.

Two months after, Keyamo said Nigeria had finally secured a Heathrow slot for the airline under the bilateral air services agreement (BASA) with the UK.

The minister said the federal government is committed to offering similar support to other local operators,

The approval came after the Nigerian government mounted pressure on UK authorities over what it described as the “consistent denial” of slots at Heathrow to Air Peace, despite repeated requests.

On March 30, 2024, Air Peace began direct flight operations from Lagos to Gatwick Airport in London.
