West Ham have confirmed the signing of Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer.
Walker-Peters left Southampton, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, upon the expiration of his contract.
The former Tottenham defender, who can play at either right-back or left-back, looked set to join Besiktas.
However, the Turkish club withdrew from talks with the 28-year-old earlier this week, claiming that Walker-Peters had delayed his medical.
West Ham have capitalised and Walker-Peters will remain in the Premier League. He has signed a three-year deal with the Hammers.
“I’m really excited,” said the two-time England international.
“It feels like it has been a long time coming – I’ve been linked with a move to the club in the past – and I’m just happy to be here now.
“I spoke to Graham Potter, and he was a big, big part of me making the decision. I’ve always liked his style as a coach, and I think it will suit me well.

“He spoke about the family feel at the club, and that’s what I’m all about. I’d like to think I’m going to be a good fit for West Ham.
“I like to play with intensity, give my all in every game, and I want to try and achieve special things here. Every team wants to win trophies and West Ham have that ambition. From speaking to Graham, he wants to create something special, and hopefully I can be a part of that.”
Walker-Peters started 33 Premier League games last season but was part of a Southampton team that amassed just 12 points, almost matching Derby County’s record for the fewest points in a season (11 in 2007-08) and being relegated with seven games remaining – a new Premier League record.
West Ham endured a disappointing season in 2024-25, finishing 14th.
They have sold Mohammed Kudus already this summer, though have bolstered their squad with the signing of Senegal international El Hadji Malick Diouf, while Jean-Clair Todibo also made his loan move from Nice permanent.
Walker-Peters could make his Hammers debut when West Ham face Manchester United at the MetLife Stadium next week.
