The University of Jos branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed its members to proceed on strike due to the non-payment of June 2025 salaries.

Jurbe Molwus, a professor and the chairman of ASUU in the institution gave the directive in a message he circulated to members of the union on Thursday night.

The message read “Dear Comrades, this is to request all members to abstain from lectures and statutory meetings if our salary for the month of June 2025 is not paid by 11:59pm today, 3rd July 2025.

“This is in line with extant NEC resolution that “branches should take action when salary is not paid by the 3rd day of a new month” and our congress resolution of 4th June 2025 affirming this position.

“The action takes effect from 12:01am on Friday, 4th July 2025.

“Please ensure full compliance until you are communicated to resume work. The strike monitoring team of the branch will be activated to monitor compliance”; the message reads in part.
