Rabbi Matthew Bellas grew up in Vancouver, raised in a conservative Jewish family. Bellas acquired his name to be a rabbi aged 8. After his schooling, receiving a B.A in Jewish Research and an M.A in Training, he attended the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (JTS) for his Rabbinic Ordination which he acquired in 2004.
