Minister for Energy, Adebayo Adelabu, issued this directive via an announcement from his Particular Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media, Bolaji Tunji.

This order follows a latest disturbance within the nationwide grid reported by TCN at roughly 11:29 AM on Thursday. Minister Adelabu emphasised the need for all related businesses to arrange for the rapid execution of the committee’s suggestions, which had been submitted on Wednesday.

The suggestions of the committee are far-reaching and can present lasting options to the frequent energy grid collapses that now we have regrettably skilled within the nation

He acknowledged, “The suggestions of the committee are far-reaching and can present lasting options to the frequent energy grid collapses that now we have regrettably skilled within the nation, each within the quick and long run.”

Within the meantime, the federal authorities, through the Nationwide Orientation Company (NOA), has linked the recurrent collapses of the nationwide grid, which result in nationwide blackouts, to the failure of electrical energy distribution firms (DisCos) to successfully make the most of the ability generated. The NOA famous that whereas Nigeria has the capability to generate roughly 13,000 MW of electrical energy and transmit as much as 8,000 MW, the insufficient infrastructure of DisCos ends in systemic failures.

The company highlighted that with the latest addition of the 700 MW Zungeru hydroelectric plant, Nigeria’s nationwide grid now boasts an put in energy technology capability of about 13,610 MW. Nevertheless, regardless of this technology capability and the flexibility to transmit over 8,000 MW, the full energetic distribution capability of the 11 DisCos in Nigeria stays round 4,000 MW.
