The account freeze goals to stop the group from funding an upcoming nationwide protest towards poor governance.
Odinkalu questioned the actions of UBA and its chairman, Tony Elumelu.
“Bia, @InibeheEffiong, did u say @TonyOElumelu & his @UBAGroup shut down the account of the
@TIBmovement on the selling of @NGRPresident & @OfficialAPCNg? Is it time for residents to shut their UBA Accounts. Afterall they’re now in energy & not want our cash, ko?” Odinkalu wrote.
The freezing of the account has introduced outrage amongst supporters of the Take It Again Motion.
They view this motion as an try and silence opposition and forestall residents from exercising their ight to protest.
The nationwide protests aimed to demand higher governance and accountability from the federal government.
Many argue that the transfer by UBA is politically motivated.
They declare it displays the financial institution’s reference to the present administration and the ruling social gathering, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This motion has raised issues in regards to the independence of economic establishments in Nigeria and their potential for use as instruments for political repression.
