Some recently manufactured Boeing and Airbus jets have components made from titanium that was sold using fake documentation. The falsified paperwork are being investigated by Spirit AeroSystems, which provides fuselages for Boeing and wings for Airbus, in addition to the Federal Aviation Administration. The investigation comes after a elements provider discovered small holes within the materials from corrosion.

In a press release, the F.A.A. stated it was investigating the scope of the issue and attempting to find out the short- and long-term security implications to planes that have been made utilizing the elements. It’s unclear what number of planes have elements made with the questionable materials.
