April 9 (UPI) — The U.S. Home of Representatives on Tuesday delayed sending articles of impeachment to the Senate towards Homeland Safety Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas till Monday with the intention to assist Republicans of their argument forward of a potential trial.
“To make sure the Senate has enough time to carry out its constitutional obligation, the Home will transmit the articles of impeachment to the Senate subsequent week,” a spokesperson for Home Speaker Mike Johnson told CNN.
“There isn’t any motive in any way for the Senate to abdicate its duty to carry an impeachment trial,” Johnson’s workplace stated.
Home Republicans initially had deliberate to send over the articles of impeachment to the Senate on April 10.
