Certificates Racketeering: Reps to Examine MDA Officers

The Home of Representatives has taken a step to probe the involvement of officers from Federal Authorities Ministries, Departments, and Businesses (MDAs) within the alleged “certificates racketeering” with Nigerian college students.

After Abubakar Fulata, representing Birniwa/Guri/Kiri-Kasamma Federal Constituency of Jigawa State, initiated the movement, the investigation commenced. Notably, the movement obtained unanimous adoption by Home members on Wednesday.

The genesis of this probe dates again to December 2022 when Nigerian reporter Umar Audu surprisingly obtained a level from a college in Cotonou, Benin Republic, inside six weeks.

Subsequently, Audu participated in Nigeria’s obligatory Nationwide Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

In his accusations, Audu implicated unnamed Ministry of Training officers, alleging their involvement within the certificates racketeering syndicate.

Consequently, these allegations triggered widespread criticism from involved Nigerians, questioning the integrity of the nation’s academic system.

Through the movement debate, Fulata harassed the significance of thorough investigation. He urged the Home to determine each MDA officers and college students who benefited from such establishments within the final decade.

Because the investigation progresses, extra particulars are anticipated on the alleged certificates racketeering and authorities officers’ involvement.
