NAFDAC seals 4 unregistered bakeries in Rivers

The Nationwide Company for Meals and Drug Administration and Management has shut 4 unregistered bakeries in Port Harcourt Metropolis and Obio/Akpor Native Authorities Areas of Rivers state.

The company stated the 4 bakeries had been working with out registration licences and with unhygienic practices.

The NAFDAC Director, South-South Zone, Chukwuma Oligbu, disclosed this in an announcement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

Oligbu stated the invention adopted the company’s bid to stamp out the prevalence of quack and substandard bakeries within the state and the zone generally.

The NAFDAC director added that after shutting down the bakeries, the homeowners had been directed to the NAFDAC zonal workplace in Port Harcourt for questioning.

Whereas noting that investigation was ongoing, he warned that defaulters of the company’s extant laws threat prosecution and attainable jail time period if convicted.

The assertion learn, “The bakeries had been working with out registration licences and with very poor hygienic apply.

The NAFDAC Director, South-South Zone stated the bakeries shut down contains: Reigns Bakery – Okabie Avenue, off Bakery Highway, Rumuigbo in Ohio/Akpor LGA, Dvine Freedom bread – 3, Omasi Avenue, Rumuomasi Avenue I’m Port Harcourt.

The others are De Heroes Bakery – Wonda Avenue, Psychiatric Highway in Ohio/Akpor LGA and The Lord’s Ample Bakery – 5, Elder Ezebunwo Avenue off Obi Wali Highway, Rumuigbo in Ohio/Akpor LGA.

“The 4 bakeries visited had been subsequently shut down, and the homeowners directed to report on the Zonal workplace for questioning whereas investigations proceed.

“Samples of the produced bread had been taken for laboratory evaluation,” the assertion added.

He implored producers of NAFDAC regulated merchandise to hunt steerage by visiting the company’s workplace for recommendation in organising their  services and companies, because the company will make Rivers Etate and the whole South-South Zone uncomfortable for recalcitrant and illicit producers who don’t wish to abide by NAFDAC customary.
